What do you suppose are the two most powerful words in the English language?
Care to take a guess?
In a recent training session, I posed this question and received a variety of interesting answers.
“Yes and No.” That was a popular guess, and admittedly, it was mine too. However, that’s not quite it.
“Oy vey.” That response definitely lightened the mood – always appreciate a bit of humor!
“BLEEP YOU.” This came from an evening session where the energy is always a bit more… lively.
So, what’s the correct answer? It’s simpler than you might think: “I am.”
As Gary Hensel, an award-winning author, wisely notes, “What you put after them shapes your reality.”
Think about this for a moment.
How often do you catch yourself saying things like:
– I am tired.
– I am busy.
– I am overwhelmed.
– I am lazy.
– I am not motivated.
– I am overworked.
– I am afraid.
– I am not smart enough.
– I am not strong enough.
Now, consider what kind of reality these statements are likely to create. Your brain, a remarkable goal-achieving machine, operates on the “programming” that is installed by the very words we repeat to ourselves.
So, what script is playing in the background of your mind? What is your brain being programmed to achieve?
Albert Einstein famously said, “Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.” This begs the question – what’s coming your way?
If you’re not thrilled with the preview, it’s time to pay closer attention to your “I AM” statements. It’s time to adopt new affirmations that align with who you want to be and what you wish to achieve.
Remember, to HAVE the life you dream of, you must first BE the person who will DO the things necessary to attain it. That begins with a powerful, self-affirming “I AM” statement.
So, what’s your “I AM”? Share it with me, and let’s embark on this journey of transformation together.
